Well, I'm Back In My Neighborhood Back In My Neighborhood My feet are dry and I could touch the sky I'm Back In My Neighborhood I tried my best to come home I was feeling so alone Then next-door showed his face and so did Harry's Ace And now I'm Back In My Neighborhood All my business left late last fall And so did my shopping mall Liuzza's By The Track Makes me sure we're coming back Oh yes, I'm back in my neighborhood So bring us all back home We've been waiting far too long But I'm feeling good Cos everything tells me I should, should Be Back In My Neighborhood

I drive around and start to break out in a sweat They say we’re coming back but nothing's happened yet If I squint real hard I can make me forget But Sometimes I Just Wanna Cry Our story gets less and less out there in the news I don't know how much more we got left to lose I get away from it all by singing these blues But Sometimes I Just Wanna Cry Days they slip away, they just drift away I spend a lot of my time doing nothing I know it’s gonna get bad before its gets real good I would turn the clock back if I only could Days they slip away, they just drift away I spend a lot of my time doing nothing I know it’s gonna get bad before its gets real good There's still a lot of people that ain't back in my neighborhood They say we’re in recovery so I'll just wait and see They’re doing a lot of planning, I’ve been to two or three I hope that you will stay (and be) here with me Cos' Sometimes I Just Wanna Cry

I lived in this town a third of my life The days have been so sweet with my son and wife But even though all that’s been said I want to see The Way Ahead After all the bull that we've been fed I just want to know my Way Ahead I played this town both day and night A lot of things are wrong and a lot of things ain't right But even though all that’s been said I just want to know my Way Ahead After all the bull that we've been fed I just want to see my Way Ahead Some will leave and some will stay The problems they ain’t going to go away But even though all that’s been said I just want to know my Way Ahead After all the bull that we've been fed I just want to know…I just want to see… I want to know my Way Ahead

Getting home late Saturday night Put up the shutters and get a fright Turn on the tv, watching the weather Living down in New Orleans But only if you had the means Packing it up and leaving together Cos we live in... This Part Of The World... Lots of songs have said the same I'm feeling just a little shame Care has forgotten about us forever We thought the cavalry were coming over the hill But they were up there sitting still We waited and waited, seemed like forever... Cos we live in... This Part Of The World... Cos we live in... This Part Of The World...

I'm Thinking Out Loud Ain't got no 'else place to go I'm Thinking Out Loud I wanna hold your hand I'm trying to be strong Not everything's gone I cannot believe that things could go this wrong And I'm aching, though, oh, oh I was Thinking Out Loud We got to get shut of them all We gotta throw 'em all out And start all over again A brand new romance With no second chance No more different steps to the same old dance And I'm aching, oh, oh, oh Thinking Out Loud I'm Thinking Out Loud Oh, oh, oh I was Thinking Out Loud I've got no place to hide I was Singing Out Loud I wanna hold your hand You make me feel strong Not everything's gone No-one can make me believe that I'm wrong And I'm aching, though, oh, oh I was Thinking Out Loud

about

The songs for this album were written over a six month period after I returned home to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Though some of the songs were performed live, most notably at a concert at the Ogden Museum in downtown New Orleans, the recordings were never mixed and mastered, and in due course, Katrina records became passé. I finally let these songs enter the light of day in May 2019, on the 63rd anniversary of my first piano lesson. Here they are to stream or download and own.
