Originally called the Hermit song, this composition sat partly finished for several years before the idea on the play on words with Herman's Hermits came in focus. I was always mostly a sideman in bands I played with, just like one of the Hermits in the backing band for sixties star Herman of "I'm Into Something Good" fame. The idea also seemed to fit in with the isolation of the pandemic, complete with pandemic beard! Finishing the recording of "I'm A Hermit Not Her Man" was interrupted by my illness in the summer of 2021, but all got back on track in early 2022.
